A Zoo of Changes

Amazing Animals! Coloring Book cover variant

Much has been happening behind the scenes here at Monochrome Mythology – most notably, all of the changes you’re seeing here on the website!

After reflecting on the previous website layout, I was considering a lot of things that I would like to change. Cost, user experience, fonts, and above all, the ability to more easily describe the journey of artmaking were among those. With that in mind, I am finding that a more blog-focused site is what I am needing. It’s the best way to keep an ongoing story alive on a website.

The shift also means that the online store, which primarily sells prints of my favorite drawings, has been moved to Etsy. Shopping there is a great way to support Monochrome Mythology!

Amazing Animals!

To celebrate the streamlined relaunch of the site, I dug up some of my animal coloring book pages that have served me well over the years in order to share them with a new (and returning) audience. My current queue of projects is full with comics but perhaps the future may include a large, full version coloring book of animals.

I loved drawing this wolf! It was a real test of line and shadow.

I briefly taught art to K-5 grade school kids in California back in the 2010’s and many of them enjoyed choosing a page to color among various characters and themes. The kids would like to tell me a short story about what they’re coloring or a favorite memory. That was always a heartwarming part of my afternoon and speaks to the power of art.

You can snag your copy of the Amazing Animals! by subscribing to the Monochrome Mythology newsletter below (powered by WordPress and Jetpack). It includes five different animals to color: Parrot, Horse, Flamingo, Wolf, and Tiger. I hope you enjoy them!

Keep telling stories!
